Duhan van der Merwe out of action until May

DUHAN VAN DER MERWE will miss at least the next month of rugby due to the ankle injury he suffered during the first half of Edinburgh’s URC victory over Dragons on Friday night.
A statement issued by the club explained that the winger “is expected to return during May”, which means he will miss some big URC and EPCR Challenge Cup games and is unlikely to be in action again before Andy Farrell names his British & Irish Lions touring squad for this summer’s trip to Australia on 8th May.
Meanwhile, second-row Marshall Sykes is “expected to return before the end of May” from a foot injury suffered in the ame match.
The pair will miss this Friday’s Challenge Cup Round of 16 clash against Lions at Hive Stadium, and the following week’s quarter-final should they win this week. They will also sit out Edinburgh”s URC clashes with the Sharks and Zebre, and potentially a Challenge Cup semi-final on weekend 2nd-4th May if Edinburgh make it that far.
