CLUB representatives from across Scotland have been invited to attend next Monday’s meeting of the Glasgow North Club Forum, when they will have the opportunity to hear an update on the current state of play in the governance and running of Scottish Rugby directly from Professor Lorne Crerar, who is Chair of the Scottish Rugby Union’s ‘Custodian’ Board.

The invite has been extended by Ed Crozier, a former SRU President and now Chair of the Glasgow North Club Forum, who is keen to encourage greater clarity and transparency in how the game in this country is run.

“Although the meeting is for Glasgow North clubs, representatives from all clubs in Greater Glasgow and beyond would be more than welcome to attend,” said Crozier. “Clubs will hear from Lorne directly on the state of play within Scottish Rugby and will answer related questions from the floor after his address.

“It’s a real opportunity to hear directly from one of the most influential individuals in our game, who played a key role in designing and delivering the new governance system for Scottish Rugby.”

Crerar became the first Chair of the ‘Custodian’ Board on interim basis when it was voted into existence as part of a long deliberated and fought over governance overhaul in September 2022, and that became a three-year appointment (to October 2025) when the make-up of the initial Board was finalised in June 2023. The Custodian Board sits at the apex of the governance structure, overseeing the strategy and performance of  the Scottish Rugby Limited Board (operating/business arm of the organisation) and the Club Rugby Board (which is responsible for the club and community game).
