Scotland's Six Nations hopes have taken a hit, with Finn Russell and Darcy Graham both set to miss the Calcutta Cup clash against England at Twickenham due to concussion.

The pair suffered a brutal head-on collision just 22 minutes into Scotland's 32-18 defeat to Ireland at Murrayfield.

Graham was stretchered off in a neck brace and later diagnosed with a concussion, while Russell initially passed his Head Injury Assessment (HIA) but was withdrawn by Scotland's coaching staff due to worrying signs on the sideline.

12-day stand-down confirmed

As per concussion protocols, Graham's confirmed injury means he will be sidelined for a mandatory 12-day stand-down period, ruling him out of the England game.

Russell's situation was initially unclear, but Mail Sport reports that due to delayed symptoms and his eventual classification as a failed HIA, he will also undergo a 12-day stand-down. That means he won't be able to train with the team until Friday, February 21 – just one day before Scotland's crucial trip to Twickenham.

Huge setback for Scotland

Gregor Townsend now faces a major selection headache, with two of his key attacking stars set to be sidelined. Russell's playmaking and Graham's finishing have been instrumental in Scotland's recent dominance over England, winning the last four Calcutta Cup encounters.

With both likely missing, Scotland's hopes of securing a fifth straight victory look increasingly difficult.
