Springbok Thomas ‘The Tank’ du Toit has taken European rugby by storm since joining English club side Bath.

Du Toit had previously turned out for the Sharks in South Africa, Munster in Ireland and Toulouse in France, but in 2023 he signed for English Premiership side Bath, where he has transformed into an unlikely try-scoring machine tutelage of fellow South African Johann van Graan, who is the club’s director of rugby.

The Springbok’s try tally has risen to eight for the season and 20 overall in just 43 appearances (including Saturday’s win over Harlequins). His latest try came in his 42 second match which was against Gloucester last Sunday.

His 20 tries for the table-topping Bath are two more than he managed in his entire club career before moving to England.

"I genuinely think the coaches at Bath have seen something that can benefit my game," Du Toit was quoted by RugbyPass.

"They've taught me the art of scoring tries closer to the line, pick-and-going, and putting that into my arsenal," the Springbok added.

"I have never really been in a position where I expect to score tries," he said. "I just want to do my job well, and if the opportunity presents itself, I take it. But it could just as easily be someone else."

SHOULD THOMAS DU TOIT BE A SPRINGBOK STARTER?
