Utility back Ethan Hooker headlines a list of promising Sharks players to put pen to paper on a new contract with the Durban outfit.

Hooker, who has been a standout in a star-studded Sharks backline that features Springboks Makazole Mapimpi and Andre Esterhuizen, has signed a deal that extends his stay at Kings Park until 2027.

His contract extension comes after the Sharks confirmed that prop Ox Nche has extended his stay at the Shark Tank, along with scrumhalf Bradley Davids and loose forwards Jannes Potgieter and Nick Hatton, who also captained the team in the early rounds of the 2024 Currie Cup.

After a stellar 2023-24 season, where Hooker helped the Sharks clinch the EPCR Challenge Cup, the 21-year-old starred for John Plumtree's charges in their Currie Cup title triumph this season.

Having captained the Sharks U20 side, Hooker's ability to play multiple positions not only benefits the Durbanites but also has enhanced his prospects at the next level.

The youngster has been redeployed from centre to left wing by Plumtree in all competitions, and Hooker is tipped to star in the green and gold jersey soon after being included in his first Bok training squad this year.
