Tom Jordan opens up on Glasgow exit but vows to go out on a high

THE countdown is now well and truly on until Tom Jordan leaves Glasgow but the Scotland utility back doesn't want to exit on a whimper.
News last November that the New Zealand-born player would be moving to Bristol Bears this summer was an undoubted hammer blow to Franco Smith and Warriors given Jordan's form and versatility over recent years since stepping up from Ayrshire Bulls.
Capped by Scotland in the autumn after meeting World Rugby's five-year eligibility requirement and then prominent during the Six Nations, where he started at 12 in four of the five matches and scored twice against Wales, Jordan is a player undoubtedly at the peak of his powers.

The 26-year-old, though, is also an ambitious character and clearly sees the chance to switch to the Premiership as the next necessary step in his own personal development. It will be a bind, he concedes, to leave Scotland after such a long period time living here but felt this was the right move at the right time.
He said: "I think it’s always difficult [to leave a club]. I’ve been here for a good few years and got really great mates, some of my best mates are here, and coaches you’ve worked with for years.
"It's like anywhere if you’re in a job. I’m sure if you leave it’s going to be some sad goodbyes here and there and it’s always tough to leave and try something new.
“But I’m big on growing as a person on and off the field, and it’s obviously going to be a great challenge for me. It will definitely be hard and exciting, but I’m looking forward to it and it should be awesome.
"[I've not been to Bristol] yet to be fair, just heard some really good things, chatted to a few people who have been there and say it’s an awesome place. A few have compared it to Glasgow, so it’s probably not too different.
"I need to get down there and just have a look and sort it all out, but yeah, obviously that’s away from everything. I’m fully focused on everything here, and that’s on the back burner. That’s a few months away so I don’t really need to worry about it too much. I’m sure it’ll be easy enough to pick up a van and get down there."
That Jordan hasn't given much thought yet to that next chapter of his life ought to serve as a balm to any Warriors fans who might have been worried about the player coasting through to the end of his contract.
Last year's success in winning the United Rugby Championship clearly meant a lot to Jordan and he would love nothing more than to depart Scotstoun with at least one more medal around his neck.
"Regardless even [if he wasn't leaving], I definitely want to be putting my best foot forward and trying to win silverware every year. Obviously going off last year, that was an awesome experience, but I think all the boys are pretty hungry again to get that again and go one further with Europe as well. I think that’s a big target for us.
"You obviously want to leave with a sweet taste in your mouth and really look back on your time at Glasgow and think you did everything you could with no regrets and just enjoy every moment. I think that’s what it comes down to – enjoying the moments that you have together with your mates and then you can look back on it fondly."
