Edinburgh to host Saracens in a mid-season friendly

EDINBURGH will take on Saracens next month in a mid-season friendly match at Hive Stadium, which has been arranged to provide game-time for the senior side at the end of the Six Nations window ahead of the final stretch of the season which will see Sean Everitt’s side attempt to secure a top eight finish in the URC and progress to the latter stages of the EPCR Challenge Cup.
The game will feature extended match-day squads of first-team regulars for both sides, and be played on Friday 14th March, kicking-off at 7.35pm (which is the night before Scotland’s final Six Nations outing against France in Paris).
Supporters will be able to purchase match tickets for the fixture from this Friday at 10am, with Season Ticket Members getting an exclusive, discounted rate.

“It’s a game that’s needed at that time of the year,” said Edinburgh head coach Everitt. “We’ve got a group of players that haven’t been able to play. It’s not easy to rotate your squad when you’re having one- and two-week breaks, because then you lose rhythm with what you have.
"This period can be a tricky one to prepare for matches, with players in and out of Scotland camp, and limited game time, so this will be great for us to build into a crucial stage of the season."
“For us, it’s the guys that maybe have been short of game-time to get that game-time, but at the same time, we also need to build on that. If we go all the way in the EPCR or the Champions Cup, it’s going to be a long run. So it’s good to build some rhythm and obviously give fringe players an opportunity to play.”
