ANDY FARRELL is set to name his coaching staff next month for the British and Irish Lions tour to Australia later this year.

The head coach announced recently that David Nucifora, Scotland's Performance Director, would be part of his backroom team as General Manager, Performance.

Aled Walters and Vinny Hammond were also confirmed at that same time. The former will take on the role of Head of Athletic Performance and the latter Head of Analysis.

Now Farrell is set to move to the next stage by revealing which coaching assistants he plans on taking with him to Australia.

That announcement will be made in London on Wednesday, March 26.

Of greatest interest to a Scottish audience will be if head coach Gregor Townsend or any of his staff are seconded for the trip Down Under that coincides with Scotland's own summer tour to the South Pacific and New Zealand.

Townsend has been repeatedly coy about the prospect when asked in recent months, insisting he has had no contact with Farrell on this topic.
