VIDEO: Johan Goosen's knee injury woes have hampered most of his career and on Saturday he again left the field in the Bulls' Champions Cup victory over Stade Francais.

Jake White, the Bulls' Director of Rugby, could not give a full update on the extent of the injury during the post-match press conference but did confirm that the flyhalf will be out for a couple of weeks.

The No. 10 left the field in the 26th minute and was replaced by Boeta Chamberlain who went on to score one of the six Bulls tries.

"I just asked the doctor and he said at the moment it is very difficult because it is swollen.

"So he will go for a scan on Monday and see, but he's got knees like crystal - he has had lots and lots of knee injuries," White remarked.

"I am hoping that it is something like a meniscus or cartilage as opposed to a ligament, but I can't speculate now until he has the scan."

White told reporters he was comfortable with the depth at flyhalf at the Bulls and that he wasn't overly worried.

The Bulls face a host of derbies in the coming weeks, starting off against the Lions at Ellis Park this coming weekend.

"He will definitely be out for a couple of weeks, there is no doubt in my mind about that.

"It creates an opportunity and a chance for someone else.

"Whether we play Willie [le Roux] at ten or Jaco [van der Walt] or Boeta [Chamberlain] - we've even got Keagan Johannes.

"So it just depends on what combination we will go with," the coach explained.

The Springbok has had bad luck with injuries for most of his career, starting back in 2013 when he played for the Cheetahs.

More recently he made his return from an 11-month lay-off for a knee injury in 2023, but it wasn't long before required surgery for a shoulder problem.

Then, in the build-up to the United Rugby Championship quarterfinal against the Stormers that same year, a hamstring issue cropped up.

In 2021 he returned to South Africa for medical observation following another knee injury in the side's United Rugby Championship win over Cardiff.
