TRANSFER NEWS: Hard-hitting loose forward Willie Engelbrecht is back in Mbombela where his professional career kicked off.

The Pumas' coach Jimmy Stonehouse confirmed that Engelbrecht is back and training with the Pumas.

The Pumas are second on the SA Cup log with just the points difference separating them from log leaders Griquas at the moment.

They host the Border Bulldogs on Friday evening.

The imposing Engelbrecht featured for the Stormers on loan from the Pumas in 2021, before making the permanent move in 2022 on a three-year deal.

Since then he donned the Stormers jersey 57 times but recently he seems to have fallen out of favour.

On Monday Engelbrecht posted a heartwarming video of his time with the Stormers on Instagram with the caption: 'Remember the lessons learned, the friendships made, and the moments that shaped you.'

A host of his Stormer teammates commented that they would miss him.

The Pumas welcomed their old captain back on their social media on Tuesday.

Engelbrecht's rugby journey started at Hoërskool Die Wilgers in Pretoria, where he honed his skills and passion for the game.

He then moved on to represent UJ (University of Johannesburg) in the Varsity Cup, further showcasing his talent and dedication to the sport.

In 2018, Engelbrecht joined the Lions squad as a loan player for the Super Rugby season.

Although he was part of the team, he did not have the opportunity to play any matches that season and subsequently returned to the Pumas, continuing his professional career with the team.
