Wales head coach Warren Gatland, ahead of the game, stated that France "are slow starters", and perhaps that statement was correct for the opening 15 minutes, but once Fabien Galthie's side got going, they were unstoppable.

Tries from Gregory Alldritt, Emilien Gailleton, and Julian Marchand and braces from Theo Atissogbe and Louis Bielle-Biarrey saw France easily pull apart a bruised Welsh side. The question now for Wales is where do they go from here. Next week in Rome is a must win for Gatland’s men.

PLAYER OF THE MATCH:

WALES PLAYER FRANCE VS WALES:

15. Liam Williams – 5
The 30-year-old fullback, eager to reach 100 caps for Wales, had a quiet evening in Paris. Although he defended well at times, he was caught out for not covering the outside, allowing Dupont to exploit gaps.

14. Tom Rogers – 4
Making his Six Nations debut, Rogers chased well and put pressure on the French backline but was replaced early in the second half.

13. Nick Tompkins – 4
Tompkins ran solid lines and was the main ball carrier, but a knock-on nearly cost Wales early on. He struggled to make an impact throughout the match.

12. Owen Watkin – 3
Watkin's night was cut short after a heavy collision in the 26th minute. Despite showing some handling skills, he didn't make a lasting impression.

11. Josh Adams – 5
On his 60th appearance for Wales, Adams was a reliable presence, though he couldn't break through France's defence.

10. Ben Thomas – 6
Thomas earned his third international start and showed promise in attack, though his kicking at times lacked precision. He adapted well after Watkin’s injury.

9. Tomos Williams – 6
Playing his 60th cap, Williams impressed defensively, particularly at the breakdown. However, he struggled to influence the game as Wales failed to click in attack.

1. Gareth Thomas – 6
The 31-year-old front-rower was solid at scrum time and set a strong defensive tone, particularly in a notable collision with Uini Atonio.

2. Evan Lloyd – 4
Lloyd had a tough debut start, struggling with lineout accuracy and giving away a costly yellow card after a high tackle.

3. Henry Thomas – 5
Solid at scrum time, Thomas used his French experience to defend well but was replaced at halftime after an underwhelming performance.

4. Will Rowlands – 5
Rowlands was a strong ball carrier and had a decent showing around the breakdown, but his performance was still below expectations.

5. Dafydd Jenkins – 5
The youngest-ever Wales captain showed determination, making strong tackles, but his performance was not as dominant as expected.

6. James Botham – 6
After Wainwright's early injury, Botham stepped up around the breakdown and carried well, even showing quick thinking to deny the French a try.

7. Jac Morgan (C) – 6
The captain led by example, carrying well in attack and showing resilience despite the tough match.

Wainwright was forced off after just three minutes due to a blood injury, leaving Tommy Reffell to replace him.
