France hooker Peato Mauvaka is set to face a disciplinary hearing this Thursday following his yellow card against Scotland last weekend.

The 28-year-old was sent to the sinbin in the 20th minute after a clash with Scotland scrum-half Ben White, sparking widespread debate.

Many fans argued that Mauvaka was fortunate to avoid a red card after leading with his head in the off-the-ball collision.

Cited for Foul Play

According to a Six Nations statement, Mauvaka was cited for an act of foul play contrary to Law 9.12, which states:
"A player must not… strike with any part of the arm, shoulder, head or knees."

Mauvaka's hearing will be conducted via video conference, overseen by an independent Disciplinary Committee chaired by Jennifer Donovan (Ireland), with two additional members yet to be confirmed. The hearing is scheduled for Thursday, 20th March 2025, at 10:00 GMT.

France Clinch the Title

Despite the controversy, France cruised to a 35-16 victory over Scotland in their final Round Five clash, securing the 2025 Six Nations title. Les Bleus edged out England by a single point on the table, with Ireland, the 2023 and 2024 back-to-back champions, finishing two points adrift.
