Statement: Bristol Bears boss signs contract extension

The Bristol Bears Women have dropped some major news, confirming their senior coaching team is staying put until the end of the 2026/27 season. Head Coach Dave Ward and Assistant Coach Tom Luke have both penned two-year contract extensions, solidifying their commitment to the club.
Ward and Luke took the reins back in 2021 and have been nothing short of sensational. The dynamic duo has guided the Bears to three straight top-four finishes and even a historic PWR Final appearance in 2023/24. Oh, and let's not forget—they made history as the first team to win an away Play-Off semi-final in the competition!

Bristol Sport Group CEO Gavin Marshall couldn't hide his excitement:
*”We're really pleased that both Dave and Tom have signed extensions to their contracts as we look to take our Women's programme to the next level and win our maiden silverware as a club.
"Since they have taken over, the programme and the team have gone from strength to strength, and we believe that under their leadership, we can become PWR champions and continue to inspire the next generation of young girls in the city."*
Ward, clearly buzzing about the new deal, added:
“I'm delighted to be continuing my time at Bears. Working with this group of players, matched by the ambition of the club, only drives me on to continue to inspire the next generation.
"The brand of rugby and skill level that we are pushing at Bears is something I'm extremely proud of, and I can't wait to continue to push the limits to what is achievable within the game."
