Pocock, who's now more often seen in parliament than on the rugby pitch, has been a leading voice for climate action in Australia since becoming a senator in June 2022. But this weekend, he made a rare return to the game he once dominated.
A Match with a Mission
Sharing his experience on social media, Pocock said:
"A great afternoon of sport yesterday for the Jack Fitzgibbon Cup. I played my first game of rugby since 2020 in a Parliament vs Veterans game.
The day paid tribute to Jack for his service and helped raise money for the @commando.welfare.trust."
A Cause Close to His Heart
Pocock praised the sacrifice of service personnel, adding:
"Service men and women put everything on the line to serve our country and keep us safe. We need more recognition and support for them and their families. Thanks to The Commando Welfare Trust for the great work you're doing."
Not only did the game raise crucial funds for the Commando Welfare Trust, but it also reminded the rugby world that Pocock, even at 36, is still a serious unit.
When it comes to making an impact—on or off the field—Pocock proves time and again he's in a league of his own.
