The rugby icon will be making a heartfelt return to Leicester Tigers as part of a grueling 230-mile run spanning seven days and seven regions across Great Britain and Northern Ireland, all in memory of his late friend and rugby league legend Rob Burrow, who tragically passed away from MND this June.
Mattioli Woods Welford Road
Tigers fans, get ready! Sinfield will arrive at the home of Leicester Tigers on Friday, December 6, during the penultimate leg of his journey. Details on how to register to be in the stands at Mattioli Woods Welford Road will be released soon. Starting at 7am in Northampton, Sinfield will tackle over 50 miles that day, arriving at Tigers HQ around 2:30pm, where he'll be welcomed by none other than Ed Slater, former Leicester Tigers and Gloucester Rugby captain, who was diagnosed with MND in 2022.
Running Home for Christmas
Dubbed 'Running home for Christmas,' this year's challenge ends in Sinfield's hometown of Saddleworth on December 7. The initiative will benefit six MND charities, with the MND Association as the primary partner, helping them continue their crucial work.
7km in Honor of Burrow
Sinfield's challenge remains rooted in the number 7, honoring Rob Burrow, who proudly wore the number at Leeds Rhinos. Each day will be split into 7km blocks, each completed within an hour before the next begins, leaving Sinfield and his team just minutes of rest between legs.
Commenting on his new challenge, Sinfield said, "The penultimate day of any of our challenges has always been the toughest and this year will be no different. It is the third longest day but I am sure the support we get in the villages and towns from Northampton to Leicester will spur all the guys on. As a Patron of the MND Association, I know how special the work they do is and it will be lovely to start at the head office and get to personally thank all the staff for their efforts. I have happy memories from my time at Leicester Tigers and I am looking forward to seeing some familiar faces at the finish line, especially Ed Slater."
