NEWS: Munster confirmed that the province will take on an Argentina XV at Thomond Park on Saturday, November 1.
Since the redevelopment of Thomond Park in 2008, Munster has hosted international opposition in the form of the All Blacks, Australia and the Māori All Blacks at the Limerick venue.
This season, Munster hosted a memorable sold-out clash against the All Blacks XV in November at Thomond Park and in recent years, there were full houses against South Africa A and the Crusaders.
The upcoming clash with Los Pumas will add another exciting chapter to Munster's rich history against touring sides having beaten representative sides from New Zealand, Australia and South Africa over the years.
In 1973, Munster played their one and only fixture against Argentina.
That match, which took place at Thomond Park and featured current Munster Branch President, Brendan Foley, finished in a 12-all draw with Barry McGann notching four penalties for Munster.
Argentina, who have reached the semifinals of the World Cup in two of the last three editions of the tournament, will also take on Bristol Bears before facing Wales, Scotland and England as part of their northern hemisphere tour.
"We will be delighted to welcome Argentina XV to Thomond Park in November as part of their Northern Hemisphere tour," Munster CEO Ian Flanagan said.
"Los Pumas are extremely passionate about their rugby as we are in Munster, and I'm sure that passion will make for a brilliant game in November as we host this proud rugby nation for the first time since 1973."
