When will Kolisi play his first 'comeback' game for Sharks?

Since the conclusion of the Rugby Championship, Siya Kolisi has been all over the country for various engagements and appearances, but his highly-anticipated return to the Sharks now looms on the horizon.

Back in September it was confirmed that Kolisi would be returning to the Sharks after a short stint at French club Racing 92, and he has since spoken of his excitement to be heading back to Durban.

This weekend the Sharks are set to face Italian club Benetton in round four of the 2024-25 URC before returning home to host the dangerous Glasgow Warriors on 19 October.

Coach John Plumtree has explained that Springboks such as Kolisi and Eben Etzebeth will be welcomed back during this time, and it will be interesting to see how they will be integrated after last playing in the final Rugby Championship clash.

"I think they need to play before they go on the end-of-year tour because they've had a couple of weeks off now," Plumtree told reporters. "But that's not the most important part of it for me – the important part of it for me is they want to play.

"We're confident those boys will be wanting to get back out there in the Sharks jersey, but the challenge is how we're going to integrate them because there's quite a few [of them]," the Sharks boss said. "I'll make that decision after this game.”

Following the clash against Glasgow, the Sharks next face Munster on 26 October, which is on the eve of the Springboks’ expected departure to begin preparing for their November Tests.

Siya Kolisi will bolster Sharks forward pack

Kolisi will bolster a forward pack that includes a few fellow Springbok regulars, with the Springbok captain returning for a second stint at Kings Park after featuring for the coastal side between 2021 and 2023.

Kolisi said: "My family have missed South Africa and it is time to come home. I would like to thank Racing for accommodating my request to return home.

"I am excited to be returning to Durban to rejoin the Sharks. My family and I love Durban and its people, and I cannot wait to run on to Kings Park during the 2024-2025 season."
