Following another World Cup-winning year, Springbok fans’ lives couldn’t get much better until they saw Sacha Fienberg-Mngomezulu in green and gold.

When Feinberg-Mngomezulu made his debut against Wales on June 25, scoring a penalty and two conversions, it was the way he went about his business that most fascinated everyone (and his pinpoint kicking).

The Bishops alumni has eight Springbok caps to his name, but it could have easily been thirteen if the 22-year-old hadn’t sustained an injury he was hiding from Rassie Erasmus during the Rugby Championship All-Blacks clashes.

"Nobody who's got an injury and 80% ready is better than a Springbok who has no injuries and is 100% ready. So, Sacha is lucky that we won those Test matches because he gambled a bit," said Erasmus.

The fearless flyhalf hasn't played since September 7.

When will he play again?

Feinberg-Mngomezulu is part of the long list of injuries the Stormers and Springboks are dealing with.

“Salmaan Moerat (knee), Sti Sithole (ankle), Frans Malherbe (ankle), Deon Fourie (knee) and Sacha Feinberg-Mngomezulu (concussion) are all expected to make their return before the end of the year, while Steven Kitshoff (neck), Evan Roos (shoulder), Dan du Plessis (knee), Ben Loader (knee) and Damian Willemse (groin) all continue their rehab and are scheduled to return to play in the new year,” the Stormers revealed.

“[Keke] Morabe will undergo surgery on Monday which will rule him out long-term, while Libbok and Dixon will be reassessed after 12 days as per HIA protocols.”

If all goes to plan, the Springbok playmaker could make his return before the New Year – Feinberg-Mngomezulu will hope to face Sharks on December 28 in front of a home crowd.
