Mchunu takes Japan detour

Powerhouse Bulls prop Khutha Mchunu has signed for Japan League One club Mitsubishi Sagamihar Dynaboars.
It remains to be seen whether the 27-year-old journeyman tighthead is leaving the Bulls on loan or permanently after less than two seasons at Loftus Versfeld, having made three appearances in the URC since leaving the Sharks in June 2023.
KLA's Dynaboars (11th) has signed South African prop Khutha Mchunu, 27, from the Bulls. He's 1.83m (6ft) / 120kg (18st)

Though the League One features a host of South African talent, the contract offer to 1.83m-120kg Mchunu is unique in that few props from the Republic are recruited by Japanese clubs.
After two separate stints with the Sharks and one with the Cheetahs, Mchunu will be eager to recharge his career with a strong showing for Dynaboars where he joins Walt Steenkamp and Kurt-Lee Arendse.
