Scotland name uncapped duo for 2025 Six Nations

SQ UAD ANNOUNCEMENT: Scotland Head Coach Gregor Townsend has named his squad for the 2025 Six Nations.
Glasgow Warriors centre Sione Tuipulotu, who took on the captaincy late last year, will once again lead the team.
The squad features two uncapped players. Scotland kicks off their Six Nations campaign against Italy at home on Saturday, February 1.
Three South Africans have been included in the squad, namely Pierre Schoeman, Duhan van der Merwe, and Dylan Richardson.
There are two new caps in the squad, Saracens flyhalf Fergus Burke, who qualifies for Scotland through his Glasgow-born grandfather, earns his first call-up alongside Glasgow Warriors No. 8 Jack Mann, whose strong performances in the Scotstoun back row have caught the selectors' attention.
Jonny Gray, the Bordeaux-Bègles lock with 77 caps to his name, is set to make a bid for a Test return. Gray, sidelined since the 2023 Six Nations, has recovered from injury and is eager to reclaim his place in the second row.
The 22-man forward contingent includes a deep pool of back-row options: Rory Darge, Jamie Ritchie, Luke Crosbie, Josh Bayliss, Jack Dempsey, Matt Fagerson, and Mann. Gray is part of a strong second-row unit that also features Grant Gilchrist, Scott Cummings, Marshall Sykes, and Gregor Brown.

In the front row, props Pierre Schoeman, Rory Sutherland, Jamie Bhatti, Zander Fagerson, Will Hurd, and D'Arcy Rae join a quartet of hookers: Ewan Ashman, Dave Cherry, Dylan Richardson, and Patrick Harrison.
Among the 15 backs, the back-three lineup includes Blair Kinghorn, Duhan van der Merwe, Darcy Graham, and Kyle Rowe. Tuipulotu is joined in the centre positions by Huw Jones, Stafford McDowall, Matt Currie, and Rory Hutchinson.

The half-back options feature Finn Russell, Tom Jordan, and first-time inclusion Fergus Burke at flyhalf, alongside scrumhalves Ben White, George Horne, and Jamie Dobie.
