Saffa boss to 'fix it' for Stormers showdown

Head coach Sean Everitt is desperate for Edinburgh to bounce back at home against the DHL Stormers on Saturday after a winless two-game tour in the Republic.

And despite a heavy defeat to the Lions at Ellis Park last week, Everitt remains optimistic, emphasising the need to address key issues ahead of the Scottish club’s round 4 Vodacom URC clash at Hive Stadium.

"We can't let 40 minutes of rugby against the Lions put us into total doom. We've identified what we need to fix, and it's my job as a coach to fix it," Everitt was quoted by The Scotsman.

He highlighted that the players are accountable and eager to improve after conceding seven first-half tries in Johannesburg.

With enforced changes ahead, Everitt confirmed that hooker Paddy Harrison will start due to injuries to Ewan Ashman and Dave Cherry. "Harrison, who made his Scotland debut on the summer tour, will step up after scoring a try last week," he noted.

The coach is also monitoring the fitness of Harry Paterson, who's returning from injury, but might rest Darcy Graham in the coming weeks.

Looking forward, Everitt acknowledged the challenges but sees potential growth. "We always knew it was going to be a tricky start, travelling early, but we saw that as an opportunity to grow as a group."

Everitt stressed that the team will make the necessary changes without scapegoating any players: “We'll make the changes that we feel are necessary to make our performance better."
