Fit-again Sharks lock to face Lyon

A Sharks lock returns from injury for Sunday’s round-of-16 Challenge Cup playoff against Lyon at Matmut Stadium.
Gerbrandt Grobler is set to make his comeback having recovered from a foot injury that sidelined him for six months. He last played in his side’s 21-15 win against the Stormers at Kings Park on 30 November.
However, Springbok lock Eben Etzebeth and fullback Aphelele Fassi have not made the trip to France.
Etzebeth hasn’t played since early December due to recurring concussion symptoms and then a hamstring strain sustained at the Springbok alignment camp, while Fassi injured an ankle at the end of last year.
According to IOL, both are fit to play, but coach John Plumtree does not want to risk them against Lyon.
They are, however, expected to be selected for the Sharks’ upcoming two-match Vodacom URC tour, which includes matches against Edinburgh (18 April) and Ulster (26 April).
