KEY men Emiliano Boffielli, Mark Bennett and Ben Muncaster have returned to full training with Edinburgh following injury lay-offs, providing the capital outfit with a timely boost ahead of Friday night’s United Rugby Championship match against Zebre Parma at Hive Stadium.
Argentinean back-three international Boffelli has not played since last April due to an ongoing back issue, Scotland centre and Olympic 7s silver medallist Bennett has managed just eight minutes of competitive rugby this season at the end of September due to a pectoral injury, and Scotland back-rower Muncaster has been out since mid-January with an ankle injury.
Winger Ross McCann has also retuned to full training for the first time since late December following a calf injury and, as has already been reported, openside flanker Freddy Douglas (who earned his first senior Scotland cap last November) is now fully training with the Scotland Under-20s squad and hoping to play against England in a fortnight’s time following his recover from an ankle injury he suffered in early-December.

On the less positive side, back-rower Tom Dodd will require surgery on a shoulder inputs with the timeline for recovery to be confirmed post-surgery, winger Lewis Wells (who has impressed in his first two matches playing at this level against Black Lion and Scarlets during January) is going to be out until May with an ankle injury,
Meanwhile, second-row Jamie Hodgson has undergone surgery on the tricep tear which cut short his loan deal with Bristol Bears and is going to be out until late April, and Connor Boyle remains a long terms absentee after tearing his ACL in November.
