ON HIS milestone 100th appearance, Shane Daly nipped in for a cracking try as Munster swept past Stade Francais, 33-7, in their Champions Cup opener at a reasonably well populated (attendance: 17,241) Thomond Park.

Opening half tries from Daly and Man of the Match Thaakir Abrahams, and two Jack Crowley conversions, had Ian Costello’s side in a strong position at the interval (14-0).

It was an initial Craig Casey box-kick that was eye-catchingly plucked out of the air by Abrhamams and then spread wide that sent Daly through for his magical score.

Discipline cost the visitors a couple of players thereafter, and with a numerical advantage Alex Kendellen and Tom Farrell both crossed for further five pointers.

The French side managed a consolation try but it was too little too late and Gavin Coombes wrapped up the scoring in the final minute.

In all, Crowley landed the extras on four occasions.

Up next for impressive Munster is a trip to Castres, who were soundly beaten at English champions Northampton earlier on the day, on Friday next.
