Wayne Barnes amazed by 'very classy' moment with World Cup star

In a remarkable display of sportsmanship during the first half, Romanian flanker Florian Rosu was shown a yellow card by referee Wayne Barnes after a Scotland maul came to a halt just meters from Romania’s try line.

What made this moment truly exceptional was Rosu’s graceful exit from the field, where he not only accepted his penalty but also went the extra mile by extending his hand to shake Barnes’ and offering his apologies to his teammates.

Barnes himself took to social media this week to commend the 30-year-old for his exemplary act of sportsmanship, a truly unexpected and laudable moment on the rugby pitch.

Barnes wrote on X: "Just reviewing the @RugbyRomania v @Scotlandteam game.

“It's not often you get your hand shaken after giving a player a yellow card in a @rugbyworldcup. Very classy from Florian Rosu."
