Antoine Dupont was nothing short of sensational as France thrashed Wales in their 2025 Six Nations opener. With a dominant seven-try performance, France inflicted a record-breaking defeat on the hapless Welsh, who were completely outclassed in Paris.

Dupont, making his return to Six Nations action after missing last year’s tournament to focus on the Paris Olympics, provided the spark for France's emphatic victory. The French captain was at his brilliant best, recording three try assists in the first half alone, before being substituted after just 49 minutes. His play was a perfect example of the quality that makes him one of the best players in the world.
However, one of his highlights of the match would soon come under scrutiny.
The 'two-metre' pass that had Wales fuming
As Dupont was orchestrating the French attack, he picked up the ball outside the Wales 22, shrugged off a defender, and left Liam Williams in the dust with a cheeky sidestep. As he neared the five-metre line, he floated a pass over Josh Adams, which Attissogbé expertly collected. The ball, however, appeared to leave Dupont's hands several metres forward, with Attissogbé catching it in front of the French scrum-half.
Despite protests from Wales captain Jac Morgan, the try was allowed to stand.
Welsh fans fume on social media
Rugby Twitter exploded with outrage as Wales fans vented their frustration at the controversial decision.
One fan said, “I've just seen that Dupont pass again. How do you miss that?! TMO must have been making a cuppa. Absolute joke.”
Another commented, “Two metres forward and they still give it. May as well let France throw the ball forward NFL-style at this point.”
A third said, “Referees really just letting Dupont do whatever he wants now. Might as well let him referee the game himself.”
One more fan added, “Someone needs to check if the French refs are still paying off officials. Absolute daylight robbery.”
