The 2025 U20 6 Nations got underway in Dublin this evening. After a pretty scrappy affair, it was England who claimed victory with a dominant 19-3 away win.

Here is how their opponents rated:

By Rohan Cook

1. Alex Usanov NA – won an early scrum penalty but only lasted 14 minutes before departing

2. Henry Walker 5 – solid at the lineout but at the centre of an Irish pack well beaten by England; even down two forwards. Off at 50

3. Alex Mullan 6 – similar to his front row partner. Some big carries before also departing after 50 mins.

4. Mahon Ronan 4 – Ireland’s locks were largely absent as they were completely outmatched by their counterparts in every department. Replaced on 67 after conceding the penalty that led to the first try of the game for England.

5. Billy Corrigan 5 – More or less the same as Ronan but did carry more than almost everyone ese with 10

6. Michael Foy 6 – Did brilliantly to stop an driving maul and nearly score down the wide channel late on. Won three turnovers

7. Billy Power 5 – Made 11 tackles, the most for his team

8. Eanna McCarthy 5 – the captain worked hard on both sides of the ball despite his packs’ issues

9. Clark Logan 6 – looked lively but is always hard for a nine with a pack in retreat

10. Sam Wisniewski 3 – a poor display particularly off the boot, missing penalties and an ill-judged cross kick that nearly lead to an English try. Replaced after the hour

11. Ciaran Mangan 5 – contained well by a robust English defence. Dangerous when he got the ball

12. Eoghan Smyth 5 – worked hard for his team with 8 carries but ultimately couldn’t break down the white wall

13. Connor Fahy 7 – Ireland’s best on the night, broke the line on several occasions and showed some great link play. Topped the carry count with 11

14. Derry Moloney 5 – Unlucky as the game rarely came his way but made his tackles when needed

15. Charlie Molony 6 – Despite Ireland’s issues upfront was solid at the back with some good clearing kicks

Replacements: 4

Early front row changes looked like a momentum shifter although ultimately as the game went on the gulf between the sides grew. Replacement backs were barely noticeable
