Short-Term Ulster Spell Ends

The 27-year-old had been with Ulster on a short-term deal since September but will now join up with Alex Sanderson's squad ahead of their Round Six Premiership match against Bath.

Hooker Shortage

Sale found themselves in need of reinforcements at hooker after Luke Cowan-Dickie received an England call-up and Tommy Taylor was sidelined through injury. This left Ethan Caine as the club's only fit senior hooker.

Sanderson Praises McElroy's Arrival

Sharks Director of Rugby Alex Sanderson, who knows McElroy from their time together at Saracens, believes the hooker can offer more than a short-term solution.

"Tadgh is someone I know well from my time at Saracens, and I know how good he is," Sanderson said. "He's fantastic in the set-piece and was highly regarded in the Ireland set-up. This move is a great fit for both sides."

Potential for Long-Term Stay

Sanderson also hinted at a possible long-term future for McElroy at the club.

"He's moved around a bit in recent years but is keen to settle. Although this deal is until the end of the season, we'd love to give him the chance to stay longer. I'm excited to see what he can bring to the team," he added
