Springboks star Handre Pollard set to leave Leicester Tigers

Exit door.

World Cup-winning Springboks fly-half Handre Pollard looks set to depart Premiership giants Leicester Tigers at the end of the season.

The 30-year-old is out of contract at the end of the current season, and RugbyPass are reporting that the English side are preparing for his exit, with Scarlets playmaker Sam Costelow, who previously played for Leicester among those on their shortlist to replace them.

Pollard began his career at the Bulls, before stints in Japan with the Osaka Red Hurricanes and France with Montpellier, before joining Leicester in 2022 on a contract worth a reported £600,000-a-year.

Given his star quality, Pollard would no doubt have a long list of potential suitors, even with his wage demands, but the report adds that he is leaning towards a return to Japan, like many Springboks who currently ply their trade there.
