It has been confirmed that Netflix have cancelled any plans for a third season of ‘Six Nations: Full Contact’, with senior Six Nations bosses confirming that the show will not return in 2026. ‘Full Contact’ began last February, in what was a retrospective look at the behind the scenes drama of the 2023 Guinness Six Nations. Season two is set to air on January 29th, which re-watches the highs and lows of the 2024 Championships.

Despite the excitement surrounding the imminent launch of the new series, Full Contact will not be renewed by the streaming service giants. Question marks were being raised by rugby media personnel, after no camera crews were in attendance for the recent squad announcements for the upcoming tournament. Six Nations Rugby CEO Tom Harrison confirmed the show’s cancellation, at the 2025 Men’s Guinness Six Nations media launch event in Rome.

“With respect to Netflix, they have made the strategic decision not to continue beyond Season Two with Six Nations full contact.” Harrison said, at the Spazio Field conference building. “Whilst we are disappointed about this decision, we understand it and reflect that this is a broad strategic decision that they have made at global level, reflecting their ongoing strategy towards sports documentaries.

“We’ve been given the assurances this has got absolutely nothing to do with the way that these two seasons, season one, and with one due to be launched in the next day or two, will be received by the market. We’re very excited about season two, but it’s really just to report that. We’ll be having ongoing conversations with Netflix throughout and we’ll be reflecting on how Season Two lands before reviewing this decision.”

Rugby fans will understandably be gutted with this decision, giving the strong reception the show received from it’s inaugural series in 2024. Whilst ‘Six Nations: Full Contact’ looks to be heading to the history books, a resurgence for the show is not written off, should it be picked up by an alternative broadcast host.
