Saracens fly-half Fergus Burke is on the brink of a major international breakthrough, with reports suggesting he's set to join the Scotland squad ahead of the Six Nations.

From Crusaders to Scotland?
According to The Telegraph, the 25-year-old, who swapped the Crusaders for Saracens under the guidance of Mark McCall, could soon trade club duties for a Scotland jersey. Recruited as Owen Farrell's long-term successor in north London, Burke now finds himself on Gregor Townsend's radar.
Backing Up the Maestro
If selected, Burke is likely to serve as Finn Russell's understudy, with Glasgow Warriors' Tom Jordan also tipped to feature. The Scotland coaching team will reportedly make their decision early next week, finalising plans for the upcoming championship.
Competition for the 10 Shirt
Scotland already has depth at fly-half, with Edinburgh's Ross Thompson starting for Scotland A in their narrow 19-17 win over Chile last November, while Ben Healy came off the bench.
Born Kiwi, Bred for Scotland
Hailing from Gisborne, New Zealand, Burke is eligible to play for Scotland thanks to his Glaswegian grandfather. His English-born mother, Julie, also opened the door for him to represent England, but it seems the allure of Murrayfield may win out.
