Saracens have strengthened their front-row options with the signing of Irish hooker Eoghan Clarke from Munster Rugby on an 18-month deal, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025/26 season.

The 26-year-old, who hails from Dublin, initially came through Munster's academy, featuring for Shannon RFC in the AIL and Munster A before making a name for himself in England's second tier.

After a move to Championship side Jersey Reds, Clarke enjoyed a breakout campaign, finishing as the league's top try scorer in 2021/22 with 17 tries. His impressive form helped the Reds lift the Championship trophy the following season.

Clarke then returned to Munster, making his senior debut in the Investec Champions Cup against Bayonne before earning his first URC appearance against Leinster on St Stephen's Day in 2023.

Now, he heads to North London ahead of Saracens' Premiership Cup campaign and could be in contention for selection as early as this weekend.

Director of Rugby Mark McCall is confident Clarke will make a big impact at the club.

"Eoghan has all of the attributes to be a real success here. His set piece is very strong, and we are looking forward to seeing him perform in a Saracens shirt."

Clarke, too, is eager to get started.

"It’s a massive privilege for myself and my family to be part of such a great club. I know this is a place where I will grow as a player and a person. I’m really looking forward to my time here!"
