England’s path to a potential Rugby World Cup 2025 triumph on home soil has been revealed. The hosts will face Australia, the USA, and Samoa in Pool A for next summer’s tournament, which kicks off in August.

With the Red Roses currently sitting atop the world rankings and riding an impressive 20-match winning streak, they are the clear favourites to win the competition and avenge their final defeat to New Zealand in 2022.

Potential Final Against New Zealand or Canada

If the top-seeded teams dominate their respective pools, England are expected to meet either world number twos Canada or reigning champions New Zealand in the final. England will be aiming to go one step further than they did in the last World Cup, where they lost to the Black Ferns.

Ireland’s Redemption and Tough Group

Ireland, who caused a major upset by defeating New Zealand in WXV earlier this month, find themselves in Pool C alongside the Black Ferns, Japan, and Spain. After failing to qualify for the previous tournament, Ireland will be eager to make their mark on the global stage once again.

Quarter-Finals and Semi-Finals Prospects

England’s quarter-final opponents could be the runners-up from Pool B, which includes Scotland, Wales, Canada, and Fiji. Scotland and Wales, who have been drawn together for the second consecutive tournament, will look to advance despite strong competition from Canada.

In the semi-finals, England's most likely opponent is France. The French side, seeded alongside England, New Zealand, and Canada, are drawn in Pool D with Italy, South Africa, and Brazil.

Tournament Draw Ceremony

The draw was conducted on BBC’s The One Show by Maggie Alphonsi, England’s 2014 World Cup-winning star. The much-anticipated tournament kicks off on Friday, 22 August, with England playing their opening match at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light. The final will take place at Twickenham’s Allianz Stadium on 27 September.
