Deal Close to the Finish Line?
According to reports from RugbyPass, negotiations are nearly wrapped up, and it looks like Joseph could soon be pulling on the famous Cherry and White jersey.
Jonathan Joseph's Little Brother
Hailing from Derby, Will Joseph has always had the added pressure of being compared to his older brother, Jonathan Joseph. While Jonathan is enjoying life in France, playing for Biarritz and pushing for ProD2 promotion, Will's career has hit the brakes this season.
A Tough Time at the Stoop
It's been a challenging year for Joseph at Harlequins, with game time proving elusive. He's made only three appearances, two of them in the Premiership Cup against lower-league opposition. Meanwhile, Luke Northmore and Oscar Beardhave been preferred in Premiership fixtures, with Beard locking down the last three starting spots.
England Debut and World Cup Disappointment
Joseph earned his solitary England cap in 2022 under Eddie Jones but hasn't added to that since. He was part of England's World Cup training squad earlier this year but was released by Steve Borthwick before the final selection. Despite showing flashes of brilliance last season with five tries in 13 games for Quins, he's struggled to make an impact in the current campaign.
From Millfield to the Premiership
A product of Millfield, the rugby powerhouse, Joseph began his career at London Irish, making 30 appearances before the club’s financial troubles. His switch to Harlequins was supposed to be a new chapter, but things haven't gone to plan. Could a move to Kingsholm finally see him step out of Jonathan's shadow and fulfill his potential? Only time will tell.
