The iconic Six Nations rugby ball logo, known for its vibrant representation of the six competing nations, has been replaced — and fans are not impressed.

In a bold rebrand, the Six Nations unveiled a "reimagined and recharged brand identity," featuring the text "M6N" paired with a red rugby ball. Organisers claim the redesign aims to "signpost rugby to a younger audience."

A statement explained: "Connecting its rich heritage with the modern game, and articulated through a distinctive and bold new brand, it is designed to resonate with everyone from new and existing fans to the players and unions competing in this iconic Championship."

The tournament also highlighted the "bold visual designs" and "distinctive orange" colour, which it says reflects fans' optimism during the Six Nations.

But rugby supporters have not held back.

  • "Did a 9-year-old win a competition to design this? Lol," wrote one.
  • Another added: "Absolutely shocking. You guys have done this on Microsoft Paint, haven't you?"
  • A third said: "There is absolutely no way this passed market testing… If it 'did,' I can only imagine it was done by an agency allowed to mark their own homework."
  • One joked: "Thought this was an ad for Mars bars."
  • Another critique delved into the details: "The 'M' is horribly off-balance and looks like it's going to fall over, the '6' is an upside-down '9,' and the 'N' has bits missing at the junctions. Apart from that, good job."
  • Finally, another summed it up: "This logo is rubbish. If I was Diageo, I'd be furious to see my Guinness brand in such a terrible design. Back to the drawing board!"

With fan feedback this scathing, it might be time for organisers to rethink their "reimagined" approach.
