A Star-Studded Lineup Get ready to see rugby royalty in action, including Devin Toner, Jordi Murphy, Chris Henry, Mike Tindall, Dylan Armitage, and Matt Banahan. These titans of the game will battle it out for the coveted Stewart Mangan Memorial Cup.
The match, founded in 2008 by ex-Irish international Shane Byrne and ex-Munster captain Len Dinneen, is powered by the legendary Jason Leonard, who leads the English side. Over the years, the game has only grown in stature and significance.
15 Years of Tradition This iconic event has been a staple for the past 15 years, alternating between Ireland and England. This year's clash is perfectly timed, taking place the night before Ireland faces England in the Guinness Six Nations opener.
A Legacy of Giving Reflecting on the game's origins, Shane Byrne shared, "This match started in 2009 after the untimely passing of Stuart Mangan, who played for Hammersmith & Fulham RFC in London. Thanks to the unwavering support of rugby fans and our incredible sponsor, Ark Underwriting Bermuda, we've raised over €1.5 million for rugby charities in Ireland and the UK."
Byrne continued, "In 2017, when our dear friend and former teammate Anthony Foley tragically passed, we brought our efforts together to celebrate his rugby life. With 17,000 fans joining us, we helped create the Anthony Foley Foundation, which still operates out of the University of Limerick."
This is more than just a match; it's a celebration of rugby's enduring spirit and community. Make sure you're there to witness the legends in action!
