Steve Borthwick's side shocked the Six Nations contenders with a dramatic 26-25 victory, putting England firmly back in the title race.
But beyond the result, it was a landmark moment for Itoje, marking his first triumph as captain. And he wasn't afraid to bend the rules—literally—by tossing away an opponent's boot in the heat of battle.
Did it decide the game? Probably not. But it showed Itoje's determination to drag his team to victory after a challenging 18-month rebuild.
Reflecting on the win, Itoje highlighted England's attacking mindset:
"Steve [Borthwick] told the group to be ambitious and brave and to go out and score tries. Our backs were incredibly brave and ambitious and they took their opportunities where on other days we might have taken the conservative option.
"The ambition and mindset was to go after the win. We knew we needed a score and credit to the boys. They were brave and were wanting to go after France. I'm very happy we were able to do it."
