After their shock folding two years ago due to administration and a staggering £95m debt, the iconic club is ready to rise from the ashes.
A Second-Tier Comeback?
Barred from the Championship last season, Wasps are eyeing a return to the second tier for the 2025-26 season. Owner Christopher Holland confirmed a game-changing move: securing a 10-year option on private land south of Swanley in Kent.
Clearing the Air
Initially thought to involve Pedham Place, Holland clarified that the land is in the wider area and doesn't include the nearby golf club. "Achieving this milestone with the support of key stakeholders is rewarding," he said. "It brings our aspiration of a new home closer and shows our determination to recover Wasps sustainably."
Community Engagement
Sevenoaks District Council revealed that the proposed stadium, part of the region's new local plan, will face public consultation before being finalised. A council spokesperson added: "Planning consent would also provide another chance for the public to engage in the process."
The Long Road Back
While hurdles remain, Wasps' ambitious plans signal a new chapter for one of rugby's most storied clubs. Could this be the start of a Wasps revival? Only time will tell.
