Georgia put up a valiant defensive display but eventually Italian dominance and strength in depth unstuck them and will have left the Lelos wondering what might have been.

Despite holding an 11 point lead going into half-time, a yellow card for Tabutsadze meant that gaps started to open up, and changes to the forward pack for both sides highlighted the difference in depth they both had, with Italy hammering home their advantage after the 60th minute mark, winning comfortably in the end despite the scoreline suggesting otherwise.

Georgia Player Ratings: Italy 20 – 17 Georgia (Autumn Nations Series)

15. Davit Niniashvili – 8.5

An amazing run for a Georgia try, finding space and running about 30 metres before offloading under immense pressure just before half time. Some last ditch defending too, the kid has it all.

 14. Aka Tabutsadze – 4.5

Didn't play terribly but his yellow card swung the momentum in Italy's favour and effectively killed the game for his team.

13. Giorgi Kveseladze – 6

Solid game with some good defensive work, would have wanted his side to have more going forward to be able to showcase some quality on the ball though.

12. Tornike Kakhoidze – 6.5

Similar story to Kveseladze, but was a bit better in defence with a couple of huge hits on the Italians.

 11. Alexander Todua – 6

Good 70 minute shift and did what was required on the defensive side, not too much involvement in the game but not bad at all.

10. Luka Matkava – 7

One of Georgia's better players, solid kicking and some good passing on display for Luka, looked knackered at the end which shows the effort put in.

 9. Vasil Lobzhanidze (captain) – 7

The Georgian captain left the pitch after 55 minutes following a Georgia yellow. Scored a try that he could not miss following great play from Niniashvili and led the team well, leaving the field with his side in front.

 8. Tornike Jalagonia – 6

Didn't have as much involvement on the ball as he would have liked, and despite putting in a shift he didn't stand out.

 7. Giorgi Tsutskiridze – 6

Came off after 70 minutes which shows the effort he put in. Was burnt out near the end of his time and faded away between 60 and 70.

6. Illa Spanderashvili – 6.5

Similar to all Georgian players really, ran himself into the ground and made some crucial tackles, but eventually the man advantage proved too strong and his performance levels dropped near the end.

 5. Giorgi Javakhia – 6.5

Good but not amazing from lineouts, put in a good shift and will be pretty happy with his 57 minutes, despite not having a huge impact on the game directly he was indirectly involved in a collective strong forward performance from his side.

4. Giorgi Babunashvili – 6.5

Good from Giorgi, and some valiant defending at times, but just didn't quite have enough in the end.

3. Irakli Aptsiauri – 6.5

A good forward showing from his team, aided by him. Left the field with his side in the lead which says a lot about his importance to his team physically.

2. Vano Karkadze – 5.5

Could have been better from lineouts, and if Georgia had been stronger set piece wise they could well have got something out of this game.

1. Nika Abuladze – 6.5

Was key in some trademark Georgia scrimmaging, came off after 55 minutes. Barely gave Italy anything and was good in the scrum, winning a couple of penalties from it.

Replacements:

16. Luka Nioradze – N/A

Didn't come on.

 17. Giorgi Akhaladze – 5.5

Italy's forwards who came on at a similar time had the better of Georgia, and despite it potentially being a result of the extra man, Akhaladze did lose the physical battle after coming on.

18. Luka Japaridze – 6

Had an almost 30 minute cameo and his freshness helped Goergia ride an Italian storm, but eventually with Italy's fresh forwards coming on, their quality proved too much for Japaridze.

19. Lado Chachanidze – 5.5

Okay but unremarkable after coming on, the effort was there but Georgia started losing more and more lineouts with him at lock.

 20. Luka Ivanishvili – N/A

Only played the last 10 so would be unfair to give a rating.

 21. Gela Aprasidze – 6

Came on following the yellow card for his captain, couldn't emulate the calmness that Lobzhanidze had, but did give a bit more solidity in defence.

22. Tedo Abzhandadze – N/A

Didn't come on.

23. Demur Tapladze – N/A

Only had 10 on the field.
