Back in 2010, Gabby Logan’s marriage was rocked by rumours of an affair, but she and Kenny were certain there wasn’t “a grain of truth” to the claims.
The alleged other man? Former England striker and Match of the Day pundit Alan Shearer.
Logan opened up about the controversy in her memoir, revealing that at the time, numerous injunctions were being issued by wealthy and famous individuals to prevent ‘bad’ news from leaking to the tabloids.
There was a “rumour swirling” about a former footballer trying to block a story from the press. In 2011, a message appeared on Logan’s Twitter timeline: “I hear this injunction concerns @gabbylogan who is having an affair with Alan Shearer.”
The TV presenter recalled: “I laughed when I read it. Then I got angry. Then I panicked.”
Logan, who had a facial appointment, quickly replied: “I think you should be careful what you write on here. The publishing laws apply and you are guilty of defamation of character with that.”
However, the following Sunday, The News of the World ran a story titled “TV's Gabby Logan denies affair with Alan Shearer,” which Logan described as ‘absolute nothingness.’
The article attempted to link Shearer and Logan during the 2010 World Cup, but Logan clarified that Shearer was based in Cape Town, while she was in Rustenburg with the England team.
