Reigning URC champions Glasgow Warriors ran in eight tries against a lacklustre Dragons side in a 65-point clash at Rodney Parade.
The hosts only grabbed scores in the first half with two tries from James Benjamin and Shane Lewis-Hughes respectively as well as 10-points from the boot of Lloyd Evans was all the hosts could muster across both halves.
On the complete opposite, the visitors ran in four tries in either half with first half scores from Johnny Matthews, Jack Mann, George Horne and Duncan Weir. Nathan McBeth and Seb Cancelliere grabbed tries in the second half whilst Horne topped off a double to sink the hosts. Weir added a further ten points from the tee and pushed the Warriors far clear of their opponents.

Dragons Player Ratings:
1. Josh Reynolds 6
Put some huge pressure on the Glasgow front row at scrum time and won some vital penalties for the Dragons in his first half performance.
2. James Benjamin 6
Benjamin marked his 100th Dragon’s appearance with a good try for his side before making an early departure just after the 20-minute mark.
3. Chris Coleman 6
Another member of the Dragons front row that impressed at scrum time winning some hard-earned turnovers for his side.
4. Joe Davies 5
Never made a huge impression on the game and looked off the pace at times during his involvements in the game.
5. George Nott 5
A sixty plus meter kick in the first half was all Nott really mustered at Rodney Parade with a quiet game for the towering lock.
6. Ryan Woodman 7
Woodman was Dragons’ best player on the day. Made the breakdown a headache for the visitors and made some thundering carries showing some great workrate.
7. George Young 5
A quiet afternoon from George Young, he looked decent in attack at times but was far too outshone by his flanker partner in and around the breakdown.
8. Shane Lewis-Hughes 6
Tried to create some movement in attack with some strong carries and clever use of his strength. Another player who put in some work around the breakdown.
9. Dane Blacker 4
Gave away a silly yellow card and harmed his team when they were already up against it. Wasn’t awful in attack but again very rarely impressed either.
10. Lloyd Evans 5
Evan’s kicking was far from flattering with kicks to touch looking loose on occasions and overall just looking uncomfortable in controlling the Dragons’ attack.
11. Jared Rosser 5
Only really made a few impacts in defence with some good covering efforts using his pace but looked lacklustre in attack.
12. Aneurin Owen 5
Owen looked hungry with the ball and was looking to make chances but it never really came off from him in and amongst a sloppy Dragons’ attack.
13. Harry Wilson 4
Wilson was very poor in attack at times just running the ball aimlessly and not offering anything to the Dragons backline with ball in hand with his defensive efforts hardly coming to much either.
14. Rio Dyer 4
Dyer lacked any chances with hardly any ball reaching his wing. Some good kick chases but nothing major to mention for the Welshman.
15. Huw Anderson 6
Anderson was a shining light for a dull Dragons backline. A nice up and under take in the first half helped set up a try for his side and overall was solid.
Replacements
16. Brodie Coghlan 6
17. Rhodri Jones 5
18. Paula Latu 5
19. Barny Langton-Cryer 6
20. Evan Minto 6
21. Che Hope 6
22. Will Reed 5
23. Scott Williams 5
Glasgow Warriors player ratings:
1. Jamie Bhatti 5
Really struggled at the scrum and painted the Glasgow pack in a bad light in the first half at the set piece.
2. Grant Stewart 5
Only managed 14 minutes before heading off. Struggled in the set pieces he featured in and looked slow off the mark in attack.
3. Fin Richardson 4
The weakest point of the weak opening half Glasgow scrum setup, and never threatened in attack during his time on the pitch.
4. Olujare Oguntibeju 5
The second row giant was a pinpoint for the Glasgow attack looking physical and not afraid of an offload option but never really impacted the game past that.
5. Alex Samuel 5
Samuel was industrious around Rodney parade and put in a solid shift with no major moments to highlight just all round reliable for Glasgow.
6. Euan Ferrie 6
The Glasgow back row really impressed and bullied the Dragons’ pack. Ferrie put in a great defensive shift with some hugely physical hits.
7. Henco Venter 6
Venter was another who put in some bone crunching shots in defence but also made some really nice carriers around the pitch.
8. Jack Mann 8
Mann was excellent in attack using his speed and power to torment the home side with the ball grabbing a try for his exceptional work rate.
9. Geroge Horne 8
A double from Horne, and overall was a constant nuisance to the Dragons defence causing constant chaos with some clever cameos with the ball.
10. Duncan Weir 7
Weir ran the show for Glasgow looking happy to just sit back and get involved when needs be. A try and five out of eight conversions is far from a bad day at the office for Weir.
11. Facundo Cordero 6
Cordero was quite in attack but still applied some huge pressure on the Dragons backfield. Would’ve wanted to see more of Cordero he but never made any major errors.
12. Duncan Munn 6
Munn was key to the Glasgow attack giving the Warriors a different angle of attack which helped the visitors a huge boost with the ball.
13. Ollie Smith 5
Smith never really got any huge amounts of chance with the ball but in defence he was solid and complimented his center partner really well.
14. Seb Cancelliere 7
Cancelliere at times had the entire freedom of Newport with the amount of space he was given and the amount of meters made he was probably unlucky to only end the game with a solo try.
15. Josh McKay 6
Sensible performance from McKay in the backfield. Didn’t make any major errors and was just overall steady for his side.
Replacements:
16. Johnny Matthews 7
17. Nathan McBeth 6
18. Patrick Schickerling 6
19. Ally Miller 5
20. Angus Fraser 5
21. Macenzzie Duncan 6
22. Ben Afshar 5
23. Kerr Johnston 6
