The rugby world is mourning the loss of former England international Tom Voyce, whose body was found in floodwaters near Abberwick Ford in Northumberland following a large-scale search. The 43-year-old went missing on Sunday, with police believing his vehicle was swept away by the powerful current during Storm Darragh.

Voyce – A Wing Who Took Flight with Wasps

Tom Voyce, renowned for his lightning pace and rugby intelligence, made a name for himself playing on the wing for England and Wasps. His career highlight came during Wasps' European dominance, and he retired in 2013, leaving an indelible mark on the sport.

After relocating to Alnwick in 2019, Voyce transitioned from financial services at Investec to running Trevow Vegetation Management. He also dedicated his time to coaching his son Oscar's under-7 team at Alnwick Rugby Club.

“Find Daddy”

Tom's wife, Anna Voyce, shared the devastating impact on their family:

“My main focus now is our son Oscar, having done what he asked, ‘find Daddy.’ Tom was the best father and role model Oscar could have asked for.”

Anna expressed gratitude for the community’s overwhelming support during the search:

“Tom would be blown away by the number of people who came to help. We are so lucky to live in such a special community that pulled together to find him.”

Remembering a Rugby Legend

Voyce’s passing has left a void not only in the rugby world but also in the local Alnwick community. His contribution to the sport and his devotion to his family and local team will be remembered forever.
