Can Ireland Beat France on March 8th?

04/14/2025 09:19 AM
The Six Nations action is in full swing now, and as a result, more and more rugby fans are getting invested in the year’s event. In fact, viewership of the matches often lies in the millions on TV alone; given this, there’s a huge amount of buzz about who’ll be the big winner for 2025 (and maybe, just maybe, we’ll even see another Grand Slam this year). However, that all hinges on whether Ireland will be able to maintain their hugely impressive recent form. So, how are things looking for the Irish team at the minute - and, critically, how do things stand on whether Ireland will be able to beat France in their upcoming March 8th match? Below you will find our insights and odds from the Irish bookmakers via Scs.ie.
Ireland’s Recent Form Been in the Six Nations 2025
Thus far, Ireland’s recent form has been flawless, if a little nerve-wracking at times, having won all three of their games across the three rounds we’ve seen so far. Kicking off in round one, Ireland achieved a 27-22 win against England, followed by a far more respectable 32-18 win against Scotland. Then, on Saturday, they managed to clinch the win again, scoring 27-18 against Wales.
As such, Ireland is no doubt on fire at the minute for their recent form and has already clinched their third Triple Crown in the last four years. That’s an incredibly impressive achievement for sure - and to most people, that would make it seem obvious that they’re in for another landslide win in their upcoming match for round four against France, too. But how likely is this?
Well, their recent form certainly looks good, but France has been playing incredibly well too. Not to mention, there’s also the worry raised by Garry Ringrose’s red card after the match against Wales, as well as Caelan Doris being ruled out just before the match against Wales due to a knee injury.
Can Ireland Beat France on March 8th?
Thus far, Ireland has yet to be beaten in any of their matches in the Six Nations 2025. However, their upcoming match against France will almost certainly pose a significant challenge, and this raises questions on whether or not they’ll be able to maintain their all-winning streak and even pull off that oh-so-impressive Grand Slam win.
But what about the bookies’ thoughts? Well, currently, the bookies are looking incredibly uncertain either way; while all of the major Irish bookies have a consensus that a draw result is pretty unlikely, and while all have chosen Ireland as the favourite, the margin here is marginal - indicating that even the bookies don’t really have much faith that Ireland are in for a clear win! In fact, some of the most well-regarded major Irish bookmakers, such as Bet365, QuinnBet, and BoyleSports, have all given Ireland odds of ⅘ (1.8). In contrast, France to win is open for bets with each bookie at odds of 11/10 (2.10), 1/1 (2.0), and 21/20 (2.05), respectively.
Given this, we’re talking about an almost imperceptible margin. And, while Ireland are still the favourites, it’s clear that their recent performance hasn’t been enough to blow France’s impressive results out of the water.
