Gloucester Rugby has announced the signing of versatile centre Will Butler, who joins the club with immediate effect. The Ledbury RFC product brings a wealth of experience from his time with Worcester Warriors, Hartpury RFC, and Tasman Mako, as well as a decorated age-grade international career with England.

Butler's rugby journey began at Worcester Warriors, where he joined the academy at just 14 years old. He played a key role in the club's U18 Academy League triumphs in 2016 and 2017, showcasing his talent as a young leader. Butler made his senior debut for the Warriors in the European Challenge Cup in 2016, setting the foundation for his professional career.

After leaving Worcester, Butler gained further experience with Hartpury RFC in the RFU Championship and honed his skills overseas with Tasman Mako in New Zealand. On the international stage, Butler was an integral part of the England U20 squad that claimed the Six Nations title in 2017 and reached the final of the U20 World Championship that same year.

Butler arrives at Kingsholm at a critical juncture in Gloucester Rugby's campaign. With the Cherry & Whites gearing up for a run of intense and competitive fixtures, bolstering the backline with an experienced and hungry player like Butler was a strategic move.

Gloucester's Director of Rugby, George Skivington, shared his enthusiasm for the new signing:

"We're pleased to bring Will into the building here at Kingsholm to bolster our backs. We're going into a run of really competitive games, so having strength in depth in key areas will be critical.

"Will is an experienced player and he's extremely motivated to have another shot at the Premiership, so he's come in with a real hunger to learn and work hard which has been pleasing."

For Butler, this move represents an opportunity to reignite his Premiership career with a club steeped in history and ambition. Fans at Kingsholm will be eager to see how his skill set and determination can contribute to Gloucester Rugby's success in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned as the Cherry & Whites prepare for a fierce run of fixtures, with Butler set to be an exciting addition to the squad.
