Now, the public has a chance to share their thoughts via the Council's planning portal from today (Thursday 9 January) until Saturday 8 February.

What's Changing?

The updated design includes major improvements, such as reducing the heights of the West and East Stands. These changes aim to enhance the matchday experience while preserving the historic charm of the city.

"This submission is a significant step forward for both the club and Bath," said Bath Rugby CEO Tarquin McDonald. "We've taken on board valuable feedback to ensure the new stadium respects the city's heritage while delivering a world-class experience for our fans."

Standout Features of the Design

  • Curved Roof Innovation: Lower heights for better city and hill views
  • Enhanced Riverside Landscaping
  • Modernized East and West Stand Facades
  • Upgraded Seating for Ultimate Comfort

Building on a Strong Foundation

Key elements from the 2023 plans remain:

  • 18,000 Capacity: Improved accessibility for all
  • Sleek, Contemporary Design: Blending innovation with sensitivity to Bath's unique aesthetic
  • Community-Centric Facilities: Expanding non-matchday uses
  • Riverside Revitalization: Including Spring Gardens Walk
  • Eco-Friendly Initiatives: Aiming for net zero operational carbon
  • Non-Matchday Attractions: Riverside café, club shop, and museum

Bath Rugby's ambitious vision is set to transform The Rec into a state-of-the-art stadium, enriching both the matchday atmosphere and the broader Bath community.
