Ospreys lash Lions in Llanelli

The Lions suffered their third successive defeat in all competitions after going down to the Ospreys in their EPCR Challenge Cup clash at Parc y Scarlets on Sunday.
Looking to bounce back after back-to-back losses in the Vodacom URC, Ivan van Rooeyen's charges were outscored four tries to two in a 30-14 defeat in Llanelli.
It was a dream start for the Pride, hooker Franco Marais crossing the whitewash before flyhalf Sam Francis added the extras inside the first quarter.
Skipper Jac Morgan's touchdown, following a yellow card for Lions flanker JC Pretorius, and eight points from the boot of Owen Williams helped send the Ospreys into the break 13-7 up.
Williams' second conversion of the match and tries from winger Keelan Giles and scrumhalf Kieran Hardy extended the Welsh outfit's lead soon after the restart, with Dan Edwards dotting down at the death following a converted Elrigh Cronje try for the visitors.
Next up, the Lions return to Johannesburg to host French outfit Pau in round 2 on Saturday, while Exeter hit the road to face two-time champions Montpellier in France.
