URC: Kick off times for SA teams this weekend

03/26/2025 01:23 AM
There are now just five rounds left to play in the regular URC season and the race simply could not be tighter for the playoffs, with most of the SA teams well placed.
As things stand, just eight points separate fifth and 15th place with Round 14 set to be a big one.
Amazingly, all but one team can still qualify for the playoffs with Leinster becoming the first team to book their spot despite a first defeat of the season to the Bulls on Saturday.
After last weekend’s set of results, the Bulls hold onto third place on the table with 45 points (13 behind Leinster and trailing the second-placed Glasgow Warriors by four points), while the Sharks are only one point behind in fourth place with 44 points.
The Stormers leaped into eighth place with 33 points – tied with the seventh placed Ospreys and only two points behind the fifth placed Cardiff – while the Lions dropped down to 13th position with 30 points with five pool rounds remaining.
Looking ahead to Round 14 – there are some must-win games for some of our SA teams as well as some intriguing battles in the playoff race.
The Stormers (8th) face Ulster (7th) in a huge game for both sides, with that game kicking off at 21:35 SA time on Friday.
Ulster’s late win over Dragons has kept them in the race and a win would see them overtake their South African counterparts who are just a point ahead of them.
The Sharks will be looking to push towards a home quarter-final when they take on Leinster (19:15 kick off on Saturday), with the log leaders looking to bounce back from the unexpected defeat to the Bulls.
Speaking of the Pretoria-based side, they will be targeting a bonus-point win over Zebre at Loftus on Saturday (14:45 kick off), while the Lions are away to Glasgow later in the day (21:35 kick off SA time).
There is all to play for in the URC for the SA teams
The quarter-finals of the competition take place on May 30 and May 31 before we head straight into the semi-finals the following week.
The grand final takes place on Saturday, June 14.
