France claimed their first men's Six Nations title since 2022, powering their way to a 35-16 win against Scotland at the Stade de France on Saturday, and it is certainly interesting to look at how the world rankings now stand at the completion of the tournament.

The Springboks won’t be in action until July, but the world champions would be quite pleased to see that even after the Six Nations, they still remain firmly ensconced at the summit of the standings.

Despite France’s Six Nations triumph, they were unable to improve their rating with a victory over Scotland due to the 7.15 points difference between the teams before home weighting is factored in.

Ireland marginally improved their ranking in third after a hard-fought win over Italy, while England earned +0.36 after a good win over Wales.

Reflecting on the Six Nations, what a tournament it has been for the men in blue, who but for a disastrous single-point loss to England, would have been crowned Grand Slam champions too.

“I’m really happy and very proud of what we’ve done," said Louis Bielle-Biarrey, the 21-year-old who broke the record for tries scored in a single Six Nations Championship (eight). "After that game in England, nothing was guaranteed, so we had to go out there and earn it. I’m delighted, but to be honest, it still feels a bit unreal.

"We had a bit of a dip. At half-time, with those two yellow cards, we lost our way a little and made a lot of small technical errors… like me with that ball. It took us a while to get back into it. And in front of us was a really strong Scottish team that made things very difficult for us. But in the end, we got the win, even though it was tough, and that feels amazing.”
