Springboks: TWO players sent home from UK tour
Today at 06:35 AM
The Springboks have sent TWO players back home from their tour of the UK.
Rassie Erasmus has decided to allow a couple of players to leave the Springboks early.
Furthermore, two stars departures have been confirmed. These Boks will take an early flight back home from their tour of the United Kingdom.
SPRINGBOKS DUE SENT HOME EARLY
‘Punch-drunk‘ Springbok, Pieter-Steph du Toit has been sent back home.
"Pieter-Steph was already on a plane last night [Monday]," Erasmus told SA Rugby on Tuesday.
"Some of the players will only help us out until tomorrow [Wednesday] afternoon because some of them are going into different leagues," Rugby365.com reported on Tuesday.
Meanwhile, following his 50th test cap for the Boks, Kwagga has also been given permission to leave.
"He is a bit punch-drunk and he wanted to sort a few things out. He deserves a rest and there are a few others like Kwagga [Smith] as well," he added.
Both loose forwards have been huge for the Springboks all year. PSDT is a rugby world player of the year nominee. Meanwhile, as mentioned, Kwagga reached a big milestone when he played his 50th test match against Scotland at Murreyfield. So, they deserve the few days of extra much-needed rest.
SA SET TO CAP OFF HUGE 2024 TEST RUGBY SEASON
The 2024 rugby test season has been filled with milestones, records and accomplishments in abundance for Rassie and the Springboks.
Moreover, they have won the Rugby Championship, Nelson Mandela plate, Freedom Cup and they secured a rare rugby championship double over rivals, the All Blacks. Furthermore, the Springboks have three of the four nominees for World Rugby Player of the Year with Ox Nche, Eben Etzebeth, PSDT and Cheslin Kolbe all nominated alongside Irish loose forward, Caelin Doris.
Finally, they close their season against the Welsh in Wales with the aim of finishing their tour of the UK unbeaten.
