Springboks: 20+ World Cup winners ruled out! – Confirmed

Rassie Erasmus will be naming his first team Springbok team of the season in a couple of weeks with more than half his regular team unavailable.

Injuries, a suspension and club commitments will see Rassie Erasmus and the Springboks without as many as 20 players (possibly more).

The Springboks have a total of NINE players injured. Meanwhile, Jasper Wiese has picked up suspension. Additionally, all players based in Europe, the UK and Ireland will be unavailable for selection, according to SARugby. Kolbe’s recent injury has seen yet another uncapped player called up.

FULL LIST OF SPRINGBOKS UNAVAILABLE FOR TEST OPENER

Trevor Nyakane, RG Snyman, Cobus Reinach, Handre Pollard, Andre Esterhuizen and captain Siya Kolisi all ply their trade for sides in Europe, the uK and Ireland. Meaning, they will be unavailable for the opening test against Wales at Twickenham on Saturday, 22 June.

Furthermore, Wiese has picked up a six match suspension that will see him miss the Ireland test serious too. Meanwhile, Willie le Roux and Marco van Staden are expected to be added to the squad when the URC commences. The Bulls duo are focused on their titanic URC semi-final clash against Leinster on Saturday, 15 June at Loftus.

Unfortunately, the talented, dynamic and speedy duo of Kurt-lee Arendse and Canan Moodie are both out injured. Therefore, a minimum of 20 players are not available for selection for the Springboks first test of the year.

Meanwhile, the likes of Thomas du Toit and Tyrone Green have been knocking at the door. So, we will see if they knocked it down when players based in the UK are eligible for selection again.
